In James Dines’ interview with King World News on Friday, the eccentric economist forecasted serious hyperinflation brought on by soaring gold and silver prices -- unless Americans wake up and do something about it.

On Friday, advocating his new 48-page “2013 Annual Forecast,” legendary forecaster James Dines detailed his predictions on the economic crisis, the future of the bond market, the price of gold and silver, and how uranium will play an ever-increasing geopolitical role. Dines called the special issue “maybe the most important issue” he’s ever released.

“The world is now in a Great Deflation,” Dines began. Forthcoming is the end to the “age of jobs and travel,” where the characteristics of government control will become increasingly Huxleyan.

Dines foresees an approaching bond market crisis, resulting in significant devaluation of pension funds. Long-term suppression of interest rates have lead to soaring bond prices, which, sooner or later, will lead to a crash -- there will simply be more rational ways to make money. And to Dines the crash is already happening. “We’re already seeing a flood of money coming out of bonds and back into the stock market,” he said.

But the economist was most concerned about where he sees the US ending up with gold, silver, and its debt: hyperinflation or repudiation of the US dollar. Gold and silver are locked into long-term upward trends, he says, which confirms what he’s been predicting all along: the world’s coming peak gold production and the printing of more and more dollars every year. This reckless over-printing of paper money will lead America into hyperinflation, unless Americans stop acting like “zombie lemmings.” Dines said the only other way that the US’ $15 trillion debt can get taken care of is to repudiate the dollar.

“It’s time for people to sharp up and realize what’s happening,” Dines said. “There will need to be a counterbalance of the amount of metals against paper.”

Dines ended the interview by predicting that America’s next war will be in Central Africa, over uranium deposits. This is only if the US stops “sleeping” and figures out that nuclear power is safe, cheap, and clean, like France, Russia, and China.

“We’re letting nuclear power and rare earth slip away,” Dines said. “America’s got long-term problems.”
