Tom Perkins, co-founder of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers, which was an early financier to Genentech, Google, Amazon and scores of others, took to Bloomberg Television earlier to apologize for comparing the persecution of America's rich to the plight of the Jews under Hitler in Nazi Germany. Perkins says he regrets the Kristallnacht comparison; when the Occupy Movement in San Francisco took to the streets smashing windows of luxury car dealers in 2011, it frightened Perkins which inspired the comparison. Perkins, a multi-hundred millionaire, says he is not out of touch, and that the rich should be tolerated for their contributions to innovation, job creation, and not to mention taxes. Perkins notes his work helped to create one million jobs and that 45% of his own net worth will be taxed when he dies.
