The fall financial conference season is kicking off today at the Vail Precious Metals Summit (more information, webcasts). The junior gold mining event has a classy group of companies exhibiting, not to mention tremendous investor spillover from the big show that follows in Denver a few days later. The Denver Gold Forum hosts the world's largest gold miners and investors Sep 12-17 (more information, webcasts).

After a busy summer spent building our businesses, I wasn't up for a trip to Colorado this year. My first fall show will be in two weeks in Toronto at the Cambridge House Canadian Investor Conference, Sept 25-26, 2014, at the Sheraton Hotel (details).

On Thursday the 25th at 3pm I will be hosting a Q&A with Power One Capital Markets chief Pat DiCapo, a merchant banker and growth investor lacking in neither horsepower nor charisma.

Pat and I are going to discuss what he's learned raising over $2 billion for growth companies, how the game has changed, what he looks for in CEOs, and of course, stock picks.

I'm very grateful to Pat for agreeing to the Q&A with me and I hope the thirty minute session will both be informative and fun.

If you are in Toronto on Sept 25, please come down and see us.

Here's the event link.

SUBSCRIBER SUMMIT SOLD OUT

Our first ever Subscriber Summit (in partnership with Keith Schaefer's Oil and Gas Investments Bulletin and Eric Coffin's Hard Rock Advisory) to be held in Vancouver on October 9, 2014 has sold out, a full month in advance.

400 subscribers have registered to meet face to face with us and some incredibly talented CEOs.

I am pumped that NexGen Energy CEO Leigh Curyer will be on hand with an update on his company's emerging uranium discovery in Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin. I was on site last week and think this story has huge growth ahead of it. Petroamerica Oil, my big bet on South American energy, will be in from Calgary. Sandstorm Gold CEO Nolan Watson, who I feel is the next Lassonde or Telfer, will be speaking. White Gold discoverer Rob McLeod has his proposed Stewart, BC producer, IDM Mining presenting. Mark O'Dea and Darin Labrenz's Red Lake touchdown/hail mary pass Pure Gold Mining will be there. As will Red Eagle Mining CEO Ian Slater, the subject of yesterday's feature interview (note I'm long all of these deals and very biased).

Thank you to everyone who has registered and to Katy and Nichola for organizing. We look forward to getting to know as many of you as possible at the event.

Oh and I forgot to mention, CEO Technician will be there!

NEW ORLEANS, NEW YORK, LONDON AND MORE

We're stilling figuring out our fall schedule but Brien Lundin's New Orleans Investment Conference October 22-25 is one of the key events each year in the gold industry (more information). Iconic mining investment letter writer Bob Bishop, who called stocks like Aber Resources and Diamond Fields International before they climbed 20 fold or more in the 1990s, tells me he will be there. Where Bob Bishop goes, good people follow.

Canada's ambassador to Wall Street and finance funny man, Howard Lindzon hosts another edition of Stocktoberfest at his home on Coronado Island in San Diego Oct 27-28 (more information). Go to this event to meet dynamic venture capitalists, chartists, social media finance freaks, bloggers and more. It's your ticket to building a social media finance Rolodex, in one of the most picturesque parts of America, that is sure to be a life changing event for many of its participants.

Canaccord Genuity is hosting their 8th annual Global Resources Conference in New York October 15-16. Last year's event was packed with exceptional CEOs and investors (see: Globe and Mail coverage). If you are a natural resources CEO you want to be at that event. I would like to attend, but also don't want to wear out my welcome, so maybe alternating years is best.

Dynamic entrepreneur Frank Giustra is getting ready for a return to London this Winter. Giustra tells me he's working on a big speech for his Mines and Money Dec 1-5 presentation (more information). Copper and silver kingpin and environmentalist Ross Beaty will also be there.

In the new year, there's Cambridge House's Vancouver Resource Investment Conference, the must attend Vancouver mining melee, then Mining Indaba in Cape Town (you would be lucky to be there), then PDAC in Toronto March, and a whole slew of others.

We have been to a lot of conferences over the years and now to try to live by the following three rules:

1) Don't try to hump investors or big shots, let other self promoters try while you sit back and watch. Slow-rollers win the events networking game.

2) Every man needs a good navy suit. Just one. Look smart but don't try to stick out.

3) Don't drink much and remember to exercise. You will have more energy and clarity.

Look forward to seeing you around the world.
