Ari Sussman's Continental Gold (CNL:TSX) released assay results from 28 drill holes and underground sampling from the Yaragua and San Agustin vein systems at the company’s 'best-in-class' Buritica gold project in Colombia (news release). Overall, the results continue to show exceptional grades and growing widths. All of the 27 underground holes at Yaragua were successful at infilling and extending the individual veins. The results are expected to be included in an updated mineral resource estimate which is slated for release at the end of the year. This updated resource estimate aims to grow the existing resource base and to increase its quality by transferring much of the existing inferred resources to measured and indicated.
Highlights include:
- Hole BUUY170, which targeted the Yaragua vein system, intersected 1.7m of 830.6g/t gold and 65g/t silver and 3.45m of 27.1g/t gold and 11g/t silver at the 1,507m elevation level.
- Many of the holes intersected at Yaragua encountered significantly higher grades and widths than are currently reported in the mineral resource estimate including BUUY120 which intersected 329.5g/t gold and 52g/t silver over 1m and BUUY143 which encountered 1.7m of 33.8g/t gold and 32g/t silver.
- At the San Agustin vein system, many of the intersected mineralized domains are currently unmodelled in the resource estimate and provide for increased mineral resource growth.
- BUSY344 encountered the most northerly vein families including 1m of 4.35g/t gold and 116g/t silver at 1,461m elevation.
Continental CEO Ari Sussman commented, "Our investment in exploration and drilling continues to deliver results and we look forward to delivering a revised mineral resource estimate near the end of the year."
From the results today, the southern and central San Agustin vein families appear to have in excess of 600m of strike length and remains open to the east, west and at depth. The company is planning to test the strike and vertical extents at San Agustin and expects to commence drilling there before the end of the year.
