Come with me to New Orleans Oct 22-25, 2014 for some fun and an important investment conference...
This year the Annual New Orleans Investment Conference marks its 40th anniversary, and organizer Brien Lundin has pulled out all the stops to celebrate the milestone. I spoke to him on the phone the other day, and he described this year’s event as “an opportunity to meet some of the great legends of modern history, and for a little while feel like they’re your friends”. So, just who will you be rubbing elbows with (other than me) if you go?
Alan Greenspan, past Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, for one. Lundin hinted at what promises to be a revealing Q and A session with Greenspan, as plans for a relentless grilling on the official management of the gold space are in place.
Pulitzer prize winner Charles Krauthamer of the Washington Post is also a featured guest this year. He’s well known for his open, funny, and brilliant commentary, and was recently featured on the cover of the National Review as “Obama's critic-in-chief.”
And if you’re a Doug Casey fan, expect to get your fill. Casey will be debating Chris Powell on gold manipulation, as well as appearing in several other events at the conference.
Other equally notable guests include Rick Rule, Frank Holmes, Peter Schiff, Marc Faber, Porter Stansberry and Robert Prechter, to mention just a few.
When you talk to people who have attended the New Orleans Investment Conference in the past, you hear over and over again how impressive the speakers were. Names like Ayn Rand, Lady Margaret Thatcher, President Gerald Ford, Henry Kissinger, and Charlton Heston, (for Pete’s sake) are on the speaker alumni list.
But don’t just take my word for it. According to Barron’s, the New Orleans Investment Conference is like: ”An investment bazaar, with shoppers sorting through ideas and products alike.”
Money Magazine calls it “The greatest investment show on earth”, and the fact that it takes place is the city of New Orleans makes it a no brainer for independent investors concerned about managing their wealth. Personally I’m incredibly excited to see the famous city for the first time.
Lundin sees another forty years for the event in the future. According to him, it’s a ‘industry gem’, and despite a few years of down markets in the metals sector, he says it’s time to consider opportunities for investment in a rising metals market. The conference showcases what he calls ‘smart companies with excellent management teams’, in a much more intimiate environment than the larger conferences.
As for accommodation, Lundin recommends the Hilton. For one thing, it’s handy to the conference. For another, there’s a Casino right across the street, and it’s walking distance to the historical French Quarter. Oh, and don’t forget about Drago’s char broiled oysters, rated the single best bite of food in New Orleans. (Drago’s is a seafood restaurant in the Hilton.)
Like I said, it’s my kind of show, so I’ve signed up. Join me and we’ll do one of the world’s most fascinating cities, New Orleans, and meet some profoundly influential global players. We might even try the oysters!
