Ivanhoe Mines (IVN.TO) shares are up 18.8% today, last at C$1.01 at press time, and up over 35% in the past few weeks.
Over @ chat.ceo.ca, we're speculating either Executive Chairman Robert Friedland is marketing the story to new investors somewhere, or possibly there's an event relating to a strategic review process currently underway of the company's 2 D.R.Congo base metal assets, Kamoa (copper) and Kipushi (zinc, copper, silver, germanium).
Surfing the web earlier, I found this new PDAC Thayer Lindsley Award video for Dr. David Broughton, the gentlemen we interviewed on the site earlier today.
This is a solid short film about the best modern copper discovery in the D.R. Congo.
"Right next to Kolwezi... You found what!?"
That's Dr. Broughton talking about the disbelief following Ivanhoe's Kamoa discovery just 10 kilometers from Kolwezi, a mining centre in the heart of Katanga province, D.R. Congo's copperbelt.
Dr. Broughton said the discovery was a team effort. "This is not a one or a two man operation, it's a huge effort by a lot of people over a long time, and I think that's the nature of discovery."
Discuss discovery, Ivanhoe and Kaizen with newsletter writers, geologists, engineers, technologists, journalists, promoters and retail investors now @ chat.ceo.ca
