Once upon a time, some old perv told me to "choose who chooses you" with regards to dating.

Don't waste your time trying to convince the unconvincable, lower your standards slightly and focus on warm leads only, he told me.

This was pretty mind blowing advice for a lonely young man, and I have since found it equally effective in prospecting for new business as in dating.

People get so focused on prospects they would love to work with. Time and effort gets spent on proposals and follow ups when the target may not be interested at all, or in the mood for buying at that time. This can be extremely frustrating for both sides.

Remember the girl you tried and tried to convince to like you but she wouldn't have it? And in your moment of peak despair a much nicer lead appeared and recognized the value in your offering. This has happened to me over and over!!!!

Prospecting is way more effective when you have an in-bound lead, be it in dating, sales, investor relations, etc. In fact I have completely given up on prospecting cold, although some sales gurus would call this lazy.

That's why content marketing (ie. blogging about your area of expertise) is such a beautiful marketing strategy, and arguably why online dating has taken off.

For me life mastery is all about the path of least resistance.

That's why I recommend you choose who chooses you.
